You can swim in the adjacent heated open-air pool, which is 25m. in length, has diving boards, a pool for toddlers, water playing garden, etc. and this is free for our guests.
Of course you can also pay a visit to Makkum to spend a day at the beach and take a refreshing dive in the IJsselmeer. Makkum is an ideal place for (beginning) surfers, because the water is very shallow close to the shore, so can you can easily get on your surfboard. Mounewetter is located next to excellent fishing grounds. Fishing at sea? The Waddenzee is only 10 minutes away. Recreation Centre Mounewetter is a recognised cycling campsite and lies favourably as home base for many attractive cycling tours. Also when you are touring and coming from the Afsluitdijk or if you are heading for the Wadden islands is Witmarsum the perfect location. There are ideal routes for canooers(landing stages are present). There are special cycling- and canoo "eleven cities" routes obtainable. Next to the Recreation Centre is a forest ideal for walking which is about 1,2 square km. in size and there is the possibility to go pony- and horseback riding. |
